A rare mature Premier Cru Meursault from the historic cellars of Robert Ampeau & Fils, one of Burgundy's most celebrated traditional domaines. Renowned for releasing wines only after decades of bottle ageing, the Ampeau family offers a unique glimpse into the beauty of perfectly matured white Burgundy.
La Pièce Sous Le Bois is a small and highly regarded Premier Cru vineyard situated on the upper slopes of Meursault, producing wines that combine the appellation's trademark richness with notable freshness and mineral precision. The 1997 vintage has evolved gracefully over time, revealing an intricate bouquet of baked apple, preserved lemon, toasted hazelnut, acacia honey and brioche, layered with subtle notes of almond, spice and wet stone.
On the palate, the wine is beautifully balanced, offering both depth and elegance. Mature orchard fruit and nutty complexity are supported by vibrant acidity and a finely etched mineral backbone. Decades of careful ageing have brought harmony and sophistication while preserving the energy and structure for which the finest Meursault Premier Crus are renowned.
This is a rare opportunity to experience a mature Premier Cru Meursault from one of Burgundy's most distinctive library-release producers.
Tasting notes:
From one of the highest vineyards in Meursault close to the hamlet of Blagny on the border with Puligny. 1997 was a ripe, harmonious vintage with impeccable balance which has enabled the wines to age effortlessly. Fleshy and round, with rich fruit allied to a fresh finish.
