Tasting notes:
This Barolo bursts with vibrant energy and aromas of crushed stone and musky animal undertones with hints of minerals, dried flowers, and fresh strawberry. Fine-grained tannins carry the palate, layered with additional mineral nuances and dried black cherry, building toward a captivating and persistent finish.
Producer description:
Voerzio is one of the finest wine producers in Piedmont. Based in La Morra, Roberto Voerzio began his journey in the 1980s with just five hectares of vineyards. Today, he crafts limited quantities of wine from some of the region’s most prestigious crus—La Serra, Rocche dell’Annunziata, Cerequio, Fossati Case Nere, and Sarmassa—60% of which are planted at high vine densities. Despite his modernist reputation, his winemaking remains relatively traditional: he avoids roto-fermenters and excessive intervention, opting instead for aging in a mix of small barrels and, since 2008, increasingly larger botti.
