Tasting notes:
From the Eleven Confessions Vineyard, this rare blend of Grenache, Syrah and a touch of Viognier shows lifted notes of black raspberry, white pepper and wild herbs. Long-aged in mostly neutral oak, it delivers a beautifully fresh, elegant and finely textured style with superb depth and a seamless finish. One of the most graceful SQN Grenaches. A powerful, tightly wound Syrah aged 39 months in French oak. Deep and structured, graphite, smoked meat, pepper and dark-fruit profile. Full-bodied and intensely concentrated, this is a true cellar wine. Perfectly mature now.
Producer description:
Sine Qua Non is one of California’s most iconic cult wineries, founded in 1994 by Manfred and Elaine Krankl. Renowned for tiny-production Rhône-style blends, SQN releases entirely new wines each vintage, each with its own unique name and label. Using Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre and small lots of Roussanne, Viognier and Chardonnay, the wines are intensely concentrated, expressive and highly collectible. Praised by critics for their originality and meticulous craftsmanship, SQN remains one of the most sought-after names in American fine wine.
