2012 Giulio Ferrari Riserva del Fondatore
Tasting notes:
This Blanc de Blancs is sourced from southwest-facing vineyards at 600m above sea levels. Made via the Traditional Method and aged in the bottle on the lees for ten years before release. Aromas of apple and citrus with notes of honey, white chocolate and spices. Elegant and complex on the palate with a velvety texture and a long finish.
Producer description:
Giulio Ferrari founded the estate in 1902. His dream was to create a wine in his region, Trentino, that could rival with the best Champagne. The Lunelli family took over the estate in the 1960s and Ferrari quickly became the market leader for sparkling wine in Italy and the nation’s celebratory wine. Today third generation Marcello, Matteo, Camilla and Alessandro lead the company. They owned vineyards near the mountains in Trentino, which benefit from warm days and cool nights, perfect to grow Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Their wines have received fantastic scores including the perfect 100 points from Decanter Magazine for the 2009 Riserva Lunelli. They were also voted ‘Sparkling Wine Producer of the Year’ at the Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championship in 2024.
