2015 L'Erta Sangiovese

Tasting notes:

L’Erta is a 100% Sangiovese aged for 12 to 16 months ageing in a mix of clay vats, tonneaux and concrete vats. Intense nose with black cherry, and cherry aromas alongside notes of toast. Full-bodied with smooth tannins and a long finish.

Producer description:

Brothers Paolo and Lorenzo Marchionni own 5ha if vineyards in Vigliano, 15km from Florence. They started their winery in 1993, when they were only 16 and 20 years old. Their vineyards are planted with Sangiovese and Trebbiano, some of which are over 50 years old, and all are certified organic. They ferment their grapes with native yeasts in small vats to produce two whites and two reds.
