2018 San Leonardo
Tasting notes:
Protected from the cold northern winds and benefiting from the warmth of Lake Garda, this unique terroir is certified organic. Aged for 24 months in oak. Aromas of blackcurrant and wild berry fruit, with hints of licorice, savory notes and bitter chocolate. Very elegant and medium bodied cabernet sauvignon blend with plenty of fine tannins and very long finish.
Producer description:
Tenuta San Leonardo represents one of the best expression of Val Lagarina’s wine, a valley in the extreme southern part of the Trentino region. The Guerrieri Gonzaga family have been winemakers here since the 18th century. Marchese Carlo Guerrieri Gonzaga had a passion and determination to bring the San Leonardo wines to the next level. In the 1960s, he spent time at Tenuta San Guido (the producer of the famous Sassicaia) and even employed their legendary consultant, Giacomo Tachis for a time.
