Tasting notes:
The grapes are dried for three to four months using the traditional Appassimento process. Aged in new oak barrels. Intense aromas of ripe, dark fruit and spice. Full-bodied and powerful with ample structure and depth very well-balanced with the acidity, refined tannins and a long finish.
Producer description:
With 120 hectares of vineyards the heart of Valpolicella Classico, this family estate ranks among the appellation’s top producers. Giovanni Allegrini was the first to bottle wines from the estate during the 1970s. He believed in the potential of Corvina, a grape widely overlooked to produce fine wines. Today the estate is run by third generation Francesco, Giovanni, Matteo and Silvia. Their most acclaimed wine ‘La Grola’ has set up the standard by which all other wines from Valpolicella are judged.
