2020 Chateau Phelan Segur

Aged for up to 18 months in French oak barrels. With aromas of cassis, sweet wild berry, rose petals, violet, licorice and spices, this is a wine of great precision with a stunning purity of fruit, silky tannins and a natural freshness. It can be enjoyed within 5 years of the vintage but will keep for several decades to reveal a bouquet of a rare complexity.

Founded by the Phelan, an Irish family, just after the 1855 classification, Phélan Ségur is located in St Estephe. The wines have seriously increased in quality since under the ownership of Philippe Van de Vyvere. A meticulous care of the vineyards combined with a great attention to details in the cellar, have resulted in wines based on power, elegance and finesse. They can equal some of Bordeaux’s most illustrious names and recently made William Kelley, wine critics at Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, wonder “Is this the most over-performing estate in the Médoc?”
