Tasting notes:
Sourced from the very steep, terraced slopes of ferruginous mica schists of Cote Rotie, La Landonne is a single vineyard plot selection and is only produced in the best years. Aged for up to 16 months in a mix of new and used oak barrels. Deep and complex with aromas of cherry, liquorice and roasted coffee. Full-bodied, ample and dense on the palate with silky tannins and a very long finish. Only 2,500 bottles are made.
Producer description:
Dating back to 1835, Maison Delas Freres has gone through restructuration programme in 1996 to restore the spirit and soul that contributed to its reputation for high quality wines. A new winery with the introduction of small 85 hl concrete vats was built, aiming to produce terroir-driven wines. They grow 30 hectares of vines inlcuding 10 hectares in Hermitage, 2 hectares in Saint-Joseph and 18 hectares in Crozes-Hermitage. They are mainly famous for their single vineyard Hermitage and Cote Rotie which have consistently received great reviews from international critics.
