Tasting notes:
This Bourgogne Côte d’Or Chardonnay comes from a 0.57-hectare holding in Meursault, specifically the Malpoirier and Dressole parcels, rooted in classic clay-limestone soils. The fruit is hand-picked and lightly pressed, then matured for 12 months in a combination of demi-muids, foudres and oak barrels, with just 10% new wood. Vincent Latour opts for no bâtonnage, ensuring a precise, mineral and finely textured expression that reflects both terroir and his hallmark reductive finesse.
Producer description:
Vincent took over the 8-hectare family domaine in 1998, choosing to bottle the estate’s production—around 4,000 cases—rather than sell the fruit as his father had done. Today, Domaine Latour covers 8.7ha, with 7ha planted to Chardonnay and 1.7ha to Pinot Noir. The estate adopted its current name, Domaine Latour, starting with the 2010 vintage. The use of whole-cluster fermentation, the introduction of demi-muids and foudres, extended élevage, and fermentation with native yeasts. Larger vessels play a crucial role in preserving the trademark freshness and minerality that define the wines of this rising Burgundian star.
