Tasting notes:
Campo di Tenaglia (100% Cabernet Franc) is a 0.8-hectare vineyard grown on 8 feet of crumbled limestone. The vines grow facing the sunset at 500 meters of altitude. Fermented in stainless steel and aged for five months in French oak barrels and a further year in cement tanks. Aromas of dark fruit, spice, cured tobacco and mineral hints. Deep, layered and vibrant on the palate with firm tannins. It should keep for 20 years from the vintage.
Producer description:
Located on the rolling hills of Val d’Orcia, Tenuta di Trinoro was acquired by Andrea Franchetti in the 1980s. Viticulture never took place before his arrival and no one believed in his project however, he was determined to make world-class wines. By lowering the yields to create deep wines full of flavours, Andrea has achieved his mission and created a true Super-Tuscan which is now sought-after by collectors. Today, his son Benjamin continues his vision. All the wines are biodynamic.
