Tasting notes:
Matured in French oak barrels (50% new) for 18 months. The wines can be austere in their youth with firm tannins but with soften with time revealing intense and pure blackcurrant fruit alongside notes of tobacco and cedar. This is a classic age-worthy Bordeaux that will be at its best after 10 years.
Producer description:
Once part of the great Leoville estate which was divided in three (Leoville Barton, Leoville Poyferre and Leoville las Cases), Leoville Barton is the smallest portion. The 48 hectares of vineyards have been owned by the Barton family since 1826. Now run by eight and ninth generation Lilian and Damien Barton, the quality of the wine has soared and this 2ème Cru Classé is becoming one of the most exciting Saint Julien.
