2021 Gigondas Reserve
Tasting notes:
Gigondas Reserve is a blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault. Sourced from their best vineyards, the vines are 60 years old on average. Grapes are picked early to preserve their freshness and the wine is aged for 18 months in large oak barrels for the elegance. Red berry and cherry aromas with hints of lavender, cedar wood and white pepper. Medium to full-bodied with ripe tannins and great freshness.
Producer description:
Domaine des Bosquets was home to the first Gigondas plantings, back in 1376. Their 26 hectares of vines, aged up to 75 years old, lie at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail and are being converted to organic and biodynamic culture. Described by Jeb Dunnuck as “the Chambolle-Musigny of the Rhône”, Domaine des Bosquet has gained widespread acclaim since Julien Bréchet took over the family domaine in 2006. He has identified three distinct soil types at different altitudes within the vineyards which offer potential for varying ripeness levels and fruit characters in the wines.
