Tasting notes:
Fermented with wild yeasts (20% in oak barrels). Made via the traditional method where second fermentation takes place in the bottle, and aged for 18 months on the lees. Only 10,000 bottles are made. Complex aromas of orange, ripe pear, honey, peach compote, caramelised almonds, dried herbs and minerals. Juicy on the palate with umami flavours and zesty acidity.
Producer description:
This small family estate is mainly known for restoring the good name of Marsala, which over the years had become a mere cooking ingredient. Marco De Bartoli has also created cult wine Bukkuram and excellent sparkling wines. Today, his children have taken over the estate but continue to promote Sicily’s indigenous grapes.
