2021 Uco Valley Malbec Reserva
Tasting notes:
Fermented using indigenous yeasts and matured in 3,500 litres untoasted, French oak foudres for 18 months and a further 12 months in bottle before release. Complex, expressive and aromatic with notes of cassis and blueberry alongside notes of spices, cloves and pine. Medium to full-bodied, well-structured palate with a long, elegant finish. A serious Malbec that offers both concentration, complexity and freshness.
Producer description:
Altos Las Hormigas is known as a Malbec specialist with a reputation as one of the country's top five producers of this varietal. It was discovered by Alberto Antonini and fellow Tuscan, Antonio Morescalchi, who were so impressed with the vineyards, they persuaded a few friends to join them in buying this estate. They work closely with Pedro Parra, who is widely regarded as the world's leading expert on soil and have discovered outstanding sites across Mendoza.
