Tasting notes:
Cassis, black cherry and blackberry unfold with violet, graphite and cedar, then hints of cocoa, bay laurel and crushed gravel. The palate is concentrated yet poised, riding fresh Rutherford acidity; tannins are fine-grained and persistent. Savory spice and a dusty mineral echo drive a long, precise finish. Decant 60–90 minutes; best 2026–2043.
Producer description:
Founded in 1900 in Rutherford, Beaulieu Vineyard (BV) helped set the standard for Napa Valley Cabernet, with Georges de Latour Private Reserve first bottled in 1936 under the guidance of André Tchelistcheff. Today the wine remains a benchmark of “Rutherford dust” elegance: old-vine Cabernet from BV’s Ranches No. 1 and 2 on the Rutherford Bench, crafted to marry depth, polish and age-worthiness.
