Tasting notes:

The grand vin is sourced from the oldest vines grown on the historic plots of the estate and matured for 18 to 20 months in oak barrels (30% new), depending on the vintage. Pichon Lalande is a precise and elegant wine with delicate scents of flower, fruit and spice. The texture is smooth and silky making it a seductive wine which can be enjoyed for up to 50 years.

Producer description:

The property was founded by Joseph de Pichon-Longueville prior to the French Revolution. Despite a turbulent time for the country, Joseph developed the estate which was planted with 50 hectares of vine before he passed away. Following his death, the property was divided in two, giving birth to Pichon Baron and Pichon Lalande. The latter is now under the ownership of the Champagne house Louis Roederer. The vineyards spread over 100 hectares and are separated in 100 plots. Massal selection, a constant search to achieve optimum ripeness and a plot-by-plot approach are some of the key elements that make Pichon Lalande a ‘super second’.
