2024 Comtesse de Lalande
Tasting notes:
Matured for 18 months in 60% new French oak. Aromas of sweet cassis and blueberry mingled with notions of clove, violets, tobacco and lilac. Full-bodied, smooth and refined on the palate with chalky tannins, concentrated fruits and a refreshing acidity.
Producer description:
Located just next to Château Latour and opposite Pichon Baron, Chateau Pichon Comtesse is known as a ‘Super Second’. The property was founded by Joseph de Pichon-Longueville prior to the French Revolution. Despite a turbulent time for the country, Joseph developed the estate which was planted with 50 hectares of vines before he passed away. Following his death, the property was divided in two, giving birth to Pichon Baron and Pichon Comtesse. Today, the property belongs to the Champagne house Louis Roederer. The wines are known for their elegance due to a higher proportion of Merlot than other Pauillac.
