Tasting notes:
The Morgon 'Côte du Py' has intense aromas of fresh red cherry and plum fruit with hints of cracked pink peppercorn. On the palate, the flavours are rich and deeply concentrated, well-balanced with finely-tuned tannins and bright acidity, which lifts the slightly spicy finish.
Producer description:
Jean-Marc Burgaud, often called “Monsieur Côte du Py”, is one of Morgon’s leading producers. His estate includes old, high-density Gamay vines on the famed Côte du Py, planted between 1940 and 1974. Working exclusively with estate-grown fruit, he follows traditional Beaujolais vinification with whole-bunch fermentation and careful extraction to preserve purity and balance. The wines combine vibrant red fruit, mineral freshness and a refined structure that can at times recall Pinot Noir.
