Last month there was a great article reiterating Tuscany as a “fascinating wine region for collectors” in Decanter Magazine.
Super-Tuscans Sassicaia, Tignanello and Ornellaia are the top three searches for Tuscany in winesearcher.com but there are many more to look at. Lodovico, Testamatta and Tenuta di Trinoro are still under the radar but have already wooed critics.
Outside Bolgheri, Brunello is also performing brilliantly, especially this year with the release of the exceptional 2019 vintage, which was rated as good as the historical 2016. We saw our allocation from Casanova di Neri and Ciacci fly away.
Chianti Classico is also on the rise with the Gran Selezione status and the new UGA classification raising the bar for Sangiovese. One of the best examples is IPSUS, Giovanni Mazzei’s latest creation. His wine is swooping fantastic accolades while only its fourth vintage.
