A rare mature Premier Cru Burgundy from the cellars of Robert Ampeau & Fils, one of Burgundy's most distinctive traditional domaines. Famous for holding wines back for extended ageing before release, the Ampeau family offers a unique opportunity to experience mature Burgundy that has been carefully stored since bottling.

Les Lavières is widely regarded as one of the finest Premier Cru vineyards in Savigny-lès-Beaune, producing wines that combine the appellation's characteristic elegance with additional depth, structure and ageing potential. After nearly three decades of maturation, the 1997 vintage reveals a beautifully evolved bouquet of dried red cherries, wild strawberries and rose petals, complemented by notes of forest floor, dried herbs, leather and sweet spice.

The palate is supple and refined, with mature red fruit flavours framed by silky tannins and fresh acidity. Layers of earth, tobacco and subtle mineral notes emerge through the long, savoury finish, showcasing the complexity that only extended bottle age can provide.

Tasting notes:

A highly attractive vintage for red Burgundy.  Lavières is one of Savigny’s finest premiers crus and this is quintessential red Côte de Beaune; medium-bodied with elegant, red fruits with a touch of spice and game.
