Tasting notes:

Fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged for two years in French and American oak barrels (100% new) and a further three years in bottle. Only produced in exceptional year. Very elegant on the nose with ripe red fruits and notes of oak and spice. Full bodied and lively with polished and well-integrated tannins. Complex with a long finish.

Tobacco-laced flavors of cherry and currant are cast with anise, dried orange peel and herb notes that are supported by integrated tannins. Details of clove and mineral combine on the lingering finish. Drink now through 2032. 2,500 cases made, 600 cases imported.

The classical 2015 Viña Real Reserva is a blend of Tempranillo with 10% Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano from a warm and early harvest that fermented in stainless steel vats and aged in new oak barriques for 22 months with rackings every four months. I find it very expressive, aromatic and open, ripe and hedonistic but without excess. It has the soft and approachable profile of the Alavesa wines but with the grip of the fine-grained, chalky tannins. It's gentle but has clout. Delicious! 340,000 bottles produced. I tasted from the only bottling of 2018.
