2019 Brunello di Montalcino
Tasting notes:
Casanova di Neri ‘White Label’ is their multi-vineyard blend and the flagship of the estate. This is a great example of the Neri family’s house style using the winery’s own distinctive clones of Sangiovese to produce a wine that stands out for its elegance, finesse, high quality and long ageing potential. Aged for three and half years in oak barrels and a further six months in bottle. Generous on the nose with notes of bergamot, wild violet and morello cherry. Full-bodied and harmonious on the palate with intense flavours and chewy tannins. Long and savoury finish. It can be enjoyed now but will be best in a few years.
Producer description:
Founded in 1971 by Giovanni Neri, this estate quickly achieve international acclaims and earned its place amongst the best producers in Brunello. Neri was fascinated by remote Montalcino and its austere Sangiovese. He found a working farm, Podere Casanova, which, thanks to its altitude, aspect and soil composition, had the potential to make great Brunellos. Today, his son Giacomo runs the estate, alongside his two sons, Giovanni and Gianlorenzo. They own seven vineyards, each having its own identity and planted with Casanova di Neri's own clones of Sangiovevse.
