Tasting notes:
Sourced from Capanna, a cooler vineyard and aged in French oak barrels up to 18 months. Intense aromas of dark berry with notes of violet and herbal hints. Full-bodied with smooth tannins well-balanced with a refreshing acidity. Very harmonious.
Producer description:
Castiglion del Bosco is located in a UNESCO-listed Natural Park in the northwest of Montalcino. They own 62 hectares of vines which are farmed organically and lie on rocky soil, poor in nutrient, perfect to produce complex and structured wines. Fermentation with indigenous yeasts and micro-vinification are some of the key techniques they use to produce terroir-driven wines. Only Sangiovese is grown at Castiglion del Bosco but they also own a second vineyard in Riparbella, on the Tuscan coast, where they grow international varietals.
