Tasting notes:
Matured in French oak barrels for 18 months (80% new). Aromas of violets, red and black currant and notes of tobacco. Medium-bodied, well textured and rich, with crunchy fruits and ripe and smooth tannins. A classic Pessac-Léognan.
Producer description:
The first vines at Pape Clement were planted in 1300 by Bernard de Groth, the future Pope Clément V. Now owned and run by the Montagne family, the estate has gone through a revival in the 1980s. A rigorous selection of the grapes, modern winemaking facilities, and the use of a higher percentage of new oak are some of the factors that have led Pape Clement to regain its prestige.
