2021 Crozes-Hermitage, Yann Chave

Tasting notes:

A classic Crozes-Hermitage built from Syrah parcels in La Roche de Glun, Mercurol and Pont de l’Isère. Deep ruby in colour, the nose shows blackcurrant, red berries and a touch of black pepper. The palate is supple and silky, with fresh acidity, ripe dark fruit and subtle spice, finishing with a delicate menthol lift and refined, velvety tannins. Elegant and balanced with good length.

Domaine Yann Chave is a family-run estate in the northern Rhône, based in Mercurol within the Crozes-Hermitage appellation. Now led by Yann Chave, the domaine farms around 20 hectares organically, focusing mainly on Syrah for Crozes-Hermitage and small parcels of Marsanne and Roussanne for white wines. The style emphasises purity of fruit, freshness and balance, reflecting the diverse terroirs of the appellation.
