Tasting notes:

The second wine of Tenuta di Trinoro, Le Cupole was first produced in 1995. Fermented in stainless steel and aged in used barriques and cement, it is approachable in its youth. Exuberant aromas of ripe red and black berry fruit, crushed flowers, smoky and meaty notes. Deep, richly-flavoredmand velvety on the palate with a bright freshness on the finish.

Producer description:

Located on the rolling hills of Val d’Orcia, Tenuta di Trinoro was acquired by Andrea Franchetti in the 1980s. Viticulture never took place before his arrival and no one believed in his project however, he was determined to make world-class wines. By lowering the yields to create deep wines full of flavours, Andrea has achieved his mission and created a true Super-Tuscan which is now sought-after by collectors. Today, his son Benjamin continues his vision. All the wines are biodynamic.

The 2021 Le Cupole (a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot) is the well-priced entry-level red from one of the most prolific and creative wine estates in Tuscany. Le Cupole is velvety and full-bodied with dark fruit, dried cherry and sweet earth or terracotta. This is an incredible value. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel, and the wine is matured in neutral barrique and cement. Some 100,000 bottles were released.

Currants and flowers with cinnamon and some blood oranges. It’s medium-bodied with fine tannins and a lovely, supple finish. Delicious now. A blend of merlot, cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon with a bit of petit verdot. Drink or hold.
