2021 Tirrenico
Tasting notes:
Tirrenico was first made in 2013 and is named after Tyrrhenus, a charismatic, proud and fearless prince of the “Tyrrhenoi” who led his people to central Italy where he founded the Etruscan civilization and introduce viticulture. Aged for 14 months in 225L French oak barrels, it is elegant and vibrant with intense aromas of blackcurrant alongside hints of dry herbs and leather.
Producer description:
Owned by the Mazzei family since the mid 1990s, the Belguardo estate is located in Maremma, Tuscany, on the hills between Grosseto and Montiano, about ten kilometres from the coast. Many years of research have allowed the Mazzeis to identify the most suited grape varieties to grow on this very special terroir. Overlooking the Tyrrenian sea, the vineyards benefit from its strong thermal currents, particularly during Spring and Summer, which balance their exposure to the sun. The wines made here have been widely acclaimed with Tenuta Belguardo, a classic Super-Tuscan, leading the way.
