2022 Gaia & Rey Chardonnay

Tasting notes:

First released in 1983, “Gaia & Rey” continues to set the standard of Chardonnay in the Langhe DOC. The malaolactic fermentation takes place in French oak barrels, where the wine will then age for several months. Elegant and complex on the nose with aromas of acacia flower, white peach and green apple with hints of honey, flint and graphite. Medium-bodied and round on the palate with well-integrated wood flavours well-balanced with a bright acidity.

Gaja goes back to 150 years ago, when the family opened a tavern next to a river port. Now in its fifth generation, Gaja is amongst the most internationally acclaimed name in Italian wine and have elevated Barbaresco to fine-wine status. Known for shunning rules and regulations in favour of quality and innovation, they now also own vineyards in Bolgheri, Tuscany, and produce some stunning ‘Super-Tuscans’.
