2022 Greco di Tufo 'Vigna Cicogna'
Tasting notes:
Aged for seven months in stainless steel vats on the lees and a further one to two months in the bottle. Very fragrant with aromas of white peach, apple and minerals. The palate is structured with a deep minerality giving the wine depth and vibrance. Long finish with a hint of bitter almond. Overall intense, powerful and refined.
Producer description:
Located in Campania, in the region of Tufo, Benito Ferrara is a boutique winery producing artisanal wines, all certified organic. This estate dates back to 1880, when Nunziante Ferrara planted the first vineyards in San Paolo, in the heart of Campania. Back in the day, Nunziante transported his wines by donkey to Tufo, the local town, to sell them. His grandson, Benito, took over the estate in 1991 and started to bottle his wines at the estate. Today his daughter Gabriella runs the winery together with her husband Sergio Ambrosino. They produce tiny amounts of Greco di Tufo from their three hectares of vines. Their vines are planted on steep south facing slopes at 450-600 meters above sea level with soils which rich in calcium, phosphorus, potassium and silicon.
