Tasting notes:

Sourced from nine separate parcels at the highest points of the Bellaria vineyards, next to Lodovico between Bolgheri and Bibbona. A touch of Merlot may be added, depending on the vintage. Aged for 16 months in oak barrel (80% new). Aromas of blackberry, dried plum, spice and rosemary alongside cedar notes. Full-bodied and structured with sweet tannins. Only 2,000 bottles are produced.

Tenuta del Nicchio is an estate located in the heart of the Bibbona hills on the coastal area of the Upper Maremma. Founded by Marchese Lodovico Antinori, the creator of Masseto and Ornellaia, the wines are exclusively made from international grape varieties. il Nichio identified a high percentage of clay in the soil that immediately inspired him to plant Cabernet Franc, a major difference from Bolgheri and a long-term varietal to dominate in hotter climates. Helped by old friend and successful Bordeaux oenologist Michel Rolland, Lodovico has created a new Tuscan legend and named it after himself.
