2022 Ipsus Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Il Caggio
Impossibile caricare la disponibilità di ritiro
Bright ruby red with a subtly lighter rim. On the nose, initial notes of precious wood and sealing wax; after some time in the glass, sweet spice notes, dried tomato, and ripe berry fruit emerge, with hints of red-cheeked peach and cherry. On the palate, it has a gripping attack, showing real character with compact acidity, along with tightly woven tannins that feel slightly rough on the finish. Be patient!

Tasting notes:
Luscious and ripe aromas of plum and sandalwood with dried flowers and crushed stone, terracotta. Fragrant. The palate is medium-bodied with an open character. Really creamy and refined with a powdered stone mouthfeel. Dusty. Fine velvet texture and a rather endless finish. Excellent for a hot and dry growing season. It is so good it makes you want to finish the bottle, even alone. Drink or hold. 98 pts. JAMES SUCKLING
Producer description:
Il Caggio is a medieval hamlet which sits within its own unique paradise, surrounded by rolling hills adorned with indigenous Sangiovese vines. The heavenly “clos” is what caught the Mazzei family’s eye. It is from these 6.5 hectares at the heart of the 150 hectares belonging to the hamlet that the Mazzei family have produced an extraordinary wine. Il Caggio sits between 320 and 350 metres above sea level and has the perfect characteristics to produce a spectacular Sangiovese. The soil is mainly clay schist mixed with calcareous marl and alberese rock fragments, and the vineyard plots have 150-degree exposure South_x0002_East South-West. Combined with the Mediterranean microclimate, the terroir lends itself perfectly to the creation of a masterpiece.
