2024 Chateau Figeac
Tasting notes:
Aged in 100% new oak barrels for 15 to 18 months. Subtle aromas of peony, infused fruit and graphite. This is a vibrant wine, full-bodied with lush and silky tannins and very pure mineral notes on the finish. With time, the wine develops flavours of tobacco-leaf with hints of black truffle, while retaining incomparable freshness of fruit. It can be enjoyed just as much in its youth as after several decades. Only 120,000 bottles are made every year.
Producer description:
Known for its ageing potential, Château-Figeac has always been amongst top Bordeaux wines. In recent years, oenologist and ‘wine guru’ Michel Rolland has been a wine consultant at the estate during which the wine has gained a highly flavourful complexity. Made of two-thirds Cabernet, unusual for St Emilion, it has both structure and freshness. Since 2000s, the wine has been more approachable in its youth, however, its ability to age for decades is quite exceptional.
