Aged in oak barrels for up to 36 months. Aromas of black cherry, spice, and hints of tobacco. Deep and powerful on the palate with silky tannins and a long, satisfying finish.

Producer description:

When Pierluigi Talenti came to the region in the 1980s, he fell in love with the Montalcino Hills and decided to make his own wines. Today, his grandson Riccardo takes care of the 22 hectares of vines, of which 16 are exclusively dedicated to grow Sangiovese. The wines made here are a modern style of Brunello with great purity and ripeness.

The 2020 Brunello from Talenti opens with aromas of cedar, underbrush, blue flower and camphor. It’s full-bodied, featuring flavors of dried cherry, blackberry extract, blood orange and licorice set against tightly knit, velvety tannins. Best 2028–2033.

The 2020 Brunello di Montalcino is especially dark and rich in the glass, displaying a mix of plum sauce and grilled herbs lifted by hints of mint and cedar shavings. This displays textures of pure silk, coming across and cool-toned and sleek with a core of tart raspberry fruits energized by fresh acidity. The 2020 maintains fantastic balance and poise, finishing classically structured and long yet still quite fresh. This may not have the power of bigger vintages yet impresses more for its graceful and giving nature.

Mid ruby. Leafy, cool cherry-fruit nose showing a hint of cardamom with aeration. Sweetly perfumed sour cherry on the palate with a layer of coating tannins. Long and deep with earthy minerally notes on the finish. Ends on lots of juice.
