Tasting notes:

The name SANCABA is an acronym invented by Carlo Franchetti as a tribute to the town of San Casciano dei Bagni. Extraction is kept to a minimum and the wine is aged in French oak barrels (no new oak) for 8 months and a further 4 months in concrete tanks. Expressive, refined and elegant with freshly crushed berry flavours. Only 6,000 bottles are made on average each year.

Producer description:

Sancaba was created in 2011 by Carlo Franchetti, the cousin of Andrea Franchetti who is famous for creating world renown Tenuta di Trinoro. Located near the town of San Casciano dei Bagni, this small vineyard is planted with Pinot Noir which is unusual for Tuscany. The first vinification took place a year later. It was entirely homemade and showed great potential. Carlo follows Andrea’s approach to winemaking, which is characterised by very low yields to create wines rich in flavours.
